India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Burma 1885-7 (A. Turner, Pte., R.M., H.M.S. Ranger) contact marks and edge bruising, about very fine and rare £150-200

Absolem Turner was born in Bridport, Dorset in October 1851 and entered the Royal Marines as a Private in October 1870. As a crew member of H.M.S. Ranger, he subsequently witnessed active service out in Egypt and the Sudan 1884-85 (Medal and Khedive’s Star), and was landed from the same ship for service with the Naval Brigade in the Burma operations of 1885-87, thereby becoming one of approximately 40 members of his crew to receive the appropriate Medal and clasp. Turner was invalided in June 1891.
