John Henry Norcup was born in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, in 1901. Recorded in 1921 as Signalman and Lineman in the Royal Corps of Signals, he later served during the Second World War as Company Quartermaster Sergeant. He died on 21 May 1942 in Sri Lanka and is buried at Colombo (Kanatte) General Cemetery.
