Charles W. Hatton attested for the Royal Engineers and served with No. 3 Signalling Company during the Great War on the Western Front from 16 August 1914. Raised Sergeant, he was later awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal whilst serving with the Royal Corps of Signals.
