George Benjamin Smith was born in 1895 and attested for the London Regiment at Bloomsbury, London. Appointed Private in the 1st Battalion, London Regiment, he served in Egypt from 30 August 1915 and was later promoted Corporal in the 13th Battalion, London Regiment. Transferring to the Western Front, he died of wounds on 12 August 1918 and is buried in Ligny-St. Flochel British Cemetery, Averdoingt, France.
