George III (1760-1820), Pre-1816 issues, 1788, pattern by L. Pingo, in copper, laureate and cuirassed bust right, no stops in legend, rev. Britannia standing facing, holding olive branch and wand, shield to left, globe to right, date in exergue, stop after britannia, toothed border both sides, edge plain, 37mm, 17.42g/6h (BMC 921; Eimer 91b). Good extremely fine and very rare £1,500-£2,000
