Peter Harry Cantan was born on 18 December 1927. Entering the Army, he served 1 year 206 days in the ranks. Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the D.C.L.I. on 26 July 1947 and promoted Lieutenant on 18 December 1948, he attained the rank of Captain on 5 May 1955.
