1914 Star (E. Garland, B.R.C.S. & O. St. J.J.) nearly extremely fine £50-70

Miss Elizabeth Garland entered the France/Flanders theatre of war as a Nursing Sister on 4 September 1914. Formerly serving in the London Hospital, she served in the French Hospital at Laversine, 4 September - 6 November 1914, a hospital at Calais, 9 November 1914-9 March 1915, the Red Cross Hospital, Wimeraux (?), 6 April-18 December 1915, the Australian Volunteer Hospital, 9 December 1915- 4 January 1916, No.5 Hospital, Wimeraux (?), 31 January-21 February 1916 and a hospital at Le Tourquet, 22 February-16 June 1916. On sick leave during June/July 1916, she returned to England. Recovering from a general debility, she resumed her nursing work, serving in hospitals in Northampton, London and Whitechurch, Hampshire before resigning to take up other work in December 1916. Sold with copied service details.
