Charles Sinclair was a China and Glass merchant, running a successful business, first at 69 Old Street, and later also at 3 City Road in Finsbury. He was active in local politics, being on the committee for the 1859 election in Finsbury. He exhibited glass chandeliers and lustres at the International Exhibition in 1862.
John Emmerson ran a printing business in Lambeth from at least 1851 until 1861 but he and his family were primarily household painters on glass. It seems likely the two families may have worked together on more than just the printing of this note.
