Hammer Price:
£340

Afghanistan 1878-80, no clasp (1028 Pte. E. Rippengall, 4th Bn. Rifle Bde.), in original card forwarding box with printed ‘Afghanistan Medal’ label and contemporary ink inscription as per above naming, surname officially corrected, virtually as issued £180-220

Private E. Rippengall died of cholera on 5 July 1879; sold with an original printed regimental memorial scroll, somewhat creased and stained and with recent backing, on which his name appears, flanked by an old ink inscription, ‘July 5th 1879’, presumably written by his next of kin.
