Edward III (1327-1377), Penny, Berwick, class VIII, bifoliate crown, reads edwradvs angl dhb, bear’s head in second quarter, villa berwici, 1.14g/10h (SCBI North 1150-1; N 1084; S 1535). Strictly fine but extremely rare (£400-500)

Not represented in the Doubleday or Elmore Jones collections. The Lockett coin (Part 1, lot 1220) was once thought the only example extant apart from the British Museum specimen
