Hammer Price:

France, 700th Anniversary of the Death of Saint François d'Assise, 1926, cast bronze trials for the obverse and reverse of the medal by P. Turin for the SFAM, bust of St Francis right, imprints of the wounds of Christ in his hands, with the artist’s signature on the right, and St Francis ministering to a flock of birds, both 87mm (Classens 154) [2]. Extremely fine and practically as made, nicely patinated, a rare pair of trials (£70-90)

Provenance:
DNW Auction 46, 31 May 2000, lot 816.

Obverse trial only illustrated, reduced. Apart from the artist’s signature, which was moved to the left for the final casting, the design of the date figures on the reverse was also subtly changed
