Ecuador, Centenary of the Battle of Pichincha, 1922, a bronze medal by L. Casadio, soldier on horseback, rev. allegorical scene of warriors striding into battle, 77mm (cf. DNW 44, 851). Extremely fine and attractively patinated, a handsome medal (£70-90)

Obverse only illustrated, reduced. As a result of the battle of Pichincha, fought on 24 May 1822, Simón Bolívar secured the independence of Quito from Spain
