France, Société Libre d’Émulation du Commerce et de l’Industrie de la Seine-Inferieure, c. 1865, a silver award medal by G.E. Hamel and [probably] L. Wiener after J.-J. Salmson, robed figure of Science leading figures of Art and Industry, rev. legend around wreath, named (Prix Cartier, Offerte par la Société à Mr Maurice Couette, 1913), 67mm (BDM V, 318). Minor scrape marks on rim, otherwise good very fine, rare; in original green leather fitted case (£90-120)

Obverse only illustrated on the Plates. A specimen of this medal was exhibited by Salmson at the Paris Salon of 1869
