James Carney was born in Fleetwood, Lancashire and attested for the King’s Own Scottish Borderers during the Great War, serving on the Western Front from 19 December 1915. He was killed in action on 3 May 1917; he has no known grave and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France.
