George Greasley attested for the 23rd (1st Sportsmans’) Battalion, Royal Fusiliers, on 2 November 1914 and served with them during the Great War on the Western Front from 22 December 1915. He was discharged due to sickness on 9 October 1916 and was awarded a Silver War Badge, no. 36310.
