Charles Edward Jepps was born in Hackney, Middlesex and attested for the Highland Light Infantry at London. He served with the 2nd Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 14 August 1914, and was killed in action during the First Battle of the Aisne on 17 September 1914. He has no known grave and is commemorated on La Ferte-sous-Jouarre Memorial, France.
