5869 Serjeant W. D. Tassie, 13th Hussars, D.C.M. London Gazette 26 May 1916. ‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He left the trench under heavy fire and suceeded in recovering a pack horse which was in danger of being lost. Later, he went out again under fire and brought in ammunition boxes off dead gun horses.’
