A Great War M.M. and Bar awarded to Sergeant D. J. Wood, 7th Yorkshire Regiment and 2nd West Yorkshire Regiment

Military Medal, G.V.R., with Second Award Bar (38311 Sjt. D. J. Wood, 7/York. R.) together with original certificate of Transfer to Reserve, and congratulatory letter from Commander VIII Corps on award of Bar to M.M., extremely fine £600-700

M.M. London Gazette 16 July 1918: ‘38311 Sjt., York. R. (Scotswood).

Bar to M.M.
London Gazette 17 June 1919: ‘72480 Sjt., M.M., 2nd Bn., W. York. R. (Galashiels).’ According to congratulatory letter sold with the lot this wasaawarded for ‘gallant conduct on the 13th October 1918.’

Douglas Johnston Wood was born in 1884 and enlisted into the Yorkshire Regiment on 9 December 1915. He subsequently served with the 2nd West Yorkshire Regiment and was transferred from that regiment to the Army Reserve on 3 March 1919.
