Francis Vaughan Matthews was born in and enlisted at the isle of Guernsey. Serving with the 1st Battalion Royal Guernsey Light Infantry, he was killed in action on 1 December 1917. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Cambrai Memorial, Louveral.
