Robert Henry Lindup was born in Hull, Yorkshire on 22 December 1876. A labourer by occupation, he enlisted into the Royal Navy as a Stoker 2nd Class in 1896. Promoted Stoker Petty Officer in 1911 whilst serving aboard the cruiser Eclipse, he served throughout the Great War on the submarine depot ship Maidstone. Sold with copied service paper.
