William Henry George Hart was born at Lambeth, London, and enlisted for the Corps of Hussars of the Line on 28 December 1893. Posted to the 7th Hussars, who he joined at Canterbury on 1 January 1894, Private Hart served in India from September 1894 until October 1895, when he went with the regiment to Natal. He served throughout the campaign in Rhodesia and Mashonaland in 1896 and 1897, and during the War in South Africa, from November 1901 until July 1902. Promoted to Sergeant in October 1901, he transferred to the Army Reserve in September 1902, and was discharged on 27 December 1905. Sold with copy discharge papers.
