Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 5 clasps, Belmont, Modder River, Paardeberg, Driefontein, Transvaal (3362 Pte. J. Noble, 1st L.N. Lanc. Regt. M.I.) very fine £100-140

John Noble was born in Preston, Lancashire. A painter by occupation and serving with the 3rd Battalion North Lancashire Regiment Militia, he attested for the North Lancashire Regiment in 1891, aged 18 years. He was transferred to the Army Reserve in April 1899 but was recalled to army service in May the same year. Present in South Africa between November 1899 and August 1902, he served with the L.N. Lancashire Mounted Infantry and was awarded the Queen’s medal with five clasps and the King’s medal with two. He was discharged in April 1903 having complete his period of engagement. Sold with copied service papers. Medals named to mounted Infantry units are scarce.
