Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 4 clasps, Cape Colony, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill, Wittebergen (4463 Pte. C. Lane, Glouc. Rgt.) very fine £80-100

Charles Henry Lane was born in Weston-under-Penyard, Ross, Herefordshire and enlisted into the Gloucestershire Regiment in 1894, aged 18 years, 7 months, having previously served with the 4th Battalion Shropshire Light Infantry. Serving in the Boer War he was with the Gloucestershire Regiment Mounted Infantry, part of the 5th Mounted Infantry, and was awarded the Queen’s medal with four clasps and King’s medal with two. He was transferred to the Army Reserve on 7 November 1902. Sold with copied service papers.
