Eight: Master at Arms J. C. Barker, Royal Navy, the winner of a full complement of 1939-45 War campaign stars and clasps

1939-45 Star; Atlantic Star,
clasp, France and Germany; Africa Star, clasp, North Africa 1942-43; Burma Star, clasp, Pacific; Italy Star; Defence and War Medals; Royal Navy L.S. & G.C., G.VI.R., 1st issue (MX. 89713 M.A.A., H.M.S. Argonaut), mounted as worn, good very fine and better (8) £180-220

It seems probable that Barker served throughout the War in the cruiser H.M.S. Argonaut, her Battle Honours - “Arctic 1942”, “North Africa 1942”, “Mediterranenan 1942”, “Normandy 1944”, “South France 1944”, “Aegean 1944” and “Okinawa 1945” - complimenting his campaign star entitlement perfectly. Interestingly, too, she survived being torpedoed by an Italian submarine in February 1943, when her bow and stern were blow off.
