Five: Private J. Simpson, Leinster Regiment, later Royal Signals

1914-15 Star (8497 Pte., Leins. R.); British War and Victory Medals (8497 Pte., Leins. R.); Jubilee 1935 (2314569 Sgm., R. Signals); Army L.S. & G.C., G.V.R., 2nd issue (2314569 Sgln., R. Signals) mounted as worn together with a comprehensive selection of original documents, including certificates of service and discharge, certificate for Jubille medal, photographs, Xmas cards etc., all contained in a British Red Cross cotton bag, nearly very fine (5) £80-120

John Simpson was born at Tonbridge, Kent, on 16 September 1889, a saddler by trade. He enlisted into the Leinster Regiment in London on 7 October 1907. He served with the British Expeditionary Force in 1914 and 1915, and with the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force 1915-19, with qualifications as Saddler and Harness Maker and Machine Gunner. Discharged on termination of his first period of engagement on 6 October 1919, Simpson re-enlisted into the Royal Signals at Maidstone on 25 February 1922, serving with that corps until 8 October 1938.
