William Donaldson Armstrong attested for the 10th (Scottish) Battalion, Liverpool Regiment on 6 August 1914 and was one of the original contingent who travelled to France aboard the S.S. Maidan in November 1914. He was discharged on 31 March 1916 as a result of wounds and was entitled to the Silver War Badge.
