Four: Warrant Officer Class 1 G. E. E. Goodman, Royal Engineers

George Edward Everett Goodman was born in Maidstone in February 1885 and enlisted into the Royal Engineers in 1889, subsequently seeing service as a Bugler in the 1/44th Company in the Boxer Rebellion. He was court-martialled in June 1901 for ‘disgraceful conduct’ and was sentenced to six months hard labour as a result. Goodman went on to serve in Gibraltar and Ceylon and served in the U.K. throughout the Great War. He attained the rank of Warrant Officer 1st Class in 1923 and was appointed Superintending Clerk and Draughtsman. Goodman retired in 1934 and was later awarded the M.S.M. without annuity.
