Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 5 clasps, Cape Colony, Transvaal, Orange Free State, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902 (Lt. E. L. Douglas Forster, North’d. Fus.), unnofficial rivets between second and third clasps, edge bruise, very fine £160-200

Eric Leigh Douglas Forster was born on 18 June 1881. Commissioned as an unattached 2nd Lieutenant on 8 January 1901, he was appointed to the 1st Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers on 9 March 1901. Promoted Lieutenant on 28 February 1902 and Captain on 1 October 1912. Serving in the Great War, he was wounded once in September 1914 at Cils Raies Spur and again on 25 February 1915 at Bailleul in the Ypres sector. Promoted Major on 8 January 1916, the following year he became an Instructor in Physical Training and Inspector of Physical Training in India, posts he held until 1922. Sold with some copied research. Clasps confirmed.
