Indian Mutiny 1857-59, 1 clasp, Central India (Lieut. J. H. R. Stoddart, 12th Lancers), with silver riband brooch, later impressed issue, edge bruising, very fine £180-220

John Herbert Randall Stoddart was appointed a Cornet in the 12th Lancers in November 1855 and received advancement to Lieutenant in October 1857. Following his services in the Indian Mutiny, in which the regiment formed part of the Saugor Field Force under Major-General Whitlock, and fought at Banda in April 1858, he transferred to the 7th Regiment of Fusiliers. He resigned his commission in 1862.
