New Zealand 1845-66, reverse dated ‘1864 to 1866’ (Asst. Surgn. O. Codrington, 68th Lt. Inftry.), officially re-impressed naming, slight edge bruising, good very fine £200-250

Oliver Codrington was born at Wroughton, Swindon on 5 May 1837, the sixth son of the Rev. Thomas Codrington, Vicar of Wroughton. He was appointed Surgeon in the Army Medical Department on 13 June 1859, Surgeon Major on 7 January 1875 and Brigade Surgeon on 19 August 1885. He retired as Hon. Deputy Surgeon-General on 27 March 1886. He joined the 68th Regiment on 26 October 1860 from the Medical Staff and returned to Staff on 16 February 1864. He rejoined the 68th on 10 October 1865, returning to the Staff again on 1 January 1873.
