Richard Thomas Pickett was born on 27 November 1870 at Forest Hill, Kent and enlisted into the Royal Marines on 27 February 1889. He was transferred to the Royal Navy as a Probationary Sick Berth Attendant on 2 January 1890 and attained the rank of Sick Berth Steward on 1 June 1899. Pickett was discharged with a pension in 1911 but was recalled for service during 1914-19, serving mainly at Chatham Hospital. Sold with copied service papers.
