A silver gilt ‘Surprise’ egg by Stuart Devlin, the two section egg with brushed finish and polished collar, opening to reveal a hedgehog hiding amongst the foliage, with green enamel ‘grass’ underfoot, the base with maker’s mark and London hallmark for 1978, Limited Edition number 217 of 300, the fitted case signed ‘Stuart Devlin’ and retailed by Boodle and Dunthorne, with wooden stand, length 9cm, outer diameter 15.6cm. £200-£300
