Percy Chase was born in Titchfield, Hampshire, and attested for the Hampshire Regiment on 7 September 1914. He served with the 11th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 19 December 1915, and was discharged due to wounds on 28 August 1918, being awarded a Silver War Badge no. 442287.
