Three: Private J. Burton, 6th Dragoon Guards, later Army Veterinary Corps

Joseph Burton attested for the 6th Dragoon Guards and served with them during the Great War on the Western Front from 13 August 1914. Unusually the medal rolls note that he transferred to the Army Veterinary Corps on 11 July 1915, and was re-numbered 275, and again later Reg/976. The 6th Dragoon Guards were one of the first cavalry units to arrive in France and became part of the 4th Cavalry Brigade, and were engaged in the action at Elouges, on 24 August 1914.
