George Ernest Harker was born in Sunderland, co. Durham, and was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Royal Field Artillery. He served with the 23rd Battery, 40th Brigade during the Great War on the Western Front from 1915, and was killed in action on 19 May 1917. He is buried in Faubourg d’Amiens Cemetery, France.

There are numerous men with the name Herbert Miller recorded on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission Roll of Honour.
