Robert Edward Riddle was born in Custom House, Middlesex, and attested for the Middlesex Regiment at Canning Town, Essex. He served with the 20th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front, and was killed in action on 15 April 1917. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France.
