M.I.D. London Gazette 4 April 1946:
‘In recognition of gallant and distinguished services in North-West Europe.’

Peter James Douglas Macfarlane was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Regular Army Reserve of Officers, Coldstream Guards, Supplementary Reserve of Officers, on 12 March 1937, and served with them during the Second World War, being advanced temporary Major. Mentioned in Despatches, he was awarded the Army Emergency Reserve Decoration in 1954 (London Gazette 4 June 1954), and relinquished his commission on 4 January 1964, retaining the honorary rank of Major.

Sold together with the recipient’s Commission Document appointing Peter James Douglas Macfarlane a Second Lieutenant in the Regular Army Reserve of Officers, Coldstream Guards, Supplementary Reserve of Officers, and dated 12 March 1937.
