Thomas Boast was born at Manningtree, Essex, and having emigrated to Australia attested for the Australian Imperial Force at Sydney. He served with the 4th Battalion, A.I.F. during the Great War on the Western Front, and was killed in action on 19 September 1918. He is buried in Templeux-le-Guerard British Cemetery, France.
