Cambridgeshire, Cambridge, Skidmore’s Globe series, Penny, 1797, Queen’s College Gate, rev. similar, edge lettered, 26.43g/6h (DH 6 and Middlesex 118). Obverse die extensively rusted, good very fine, reverse better, patinated, extremely rare (£150-200)

Queen’s College was founded in 1448 by Margaret of Anjou, consort of Henry VI, and completed by Elizabeth, wife of Edward IV, who granted the first statutes in 1475
