Harry Kibler was born in 1874 and served 19 years 218 days in the ranks of the 5th Lancers. He served with the regiment in South Africa and was slightly wounded at Zoekoe River on 6 April 1901. He received the L.S. & G.C. medal as Squadron Sergeant Major Rough Rider, Army Order October 1913, and was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant, 5th Lancers, serving in 6th Reserve Regiment of Cavalry as Riding Master, 8 September 1914; Lieutenant, 5th Lancers, Reserve of Officers, 28 April 1915.

The following entry is taken from the Regimental History: ‘Thursday 27th April 1916, 6th Reserve Regiment of Cavalry, Marlborough Barracks, Dublin. Captain B. Wilson and Lieutenant Kibler, with one hundred dismounted men, took over Amiens Street Station, and formed a line of posts in this vicinity. This post were out for four days, and had an unpleasant time, being sniped at from the houses around.’

Lieutenant Kibler was declared Champion at Arms at the Olympia Royal Tournament 1919. In the Officers Championship he won 1st prize for Dummy Thrusting, 1st prize in Sword v. Lance, and 2nd prize in the Sword, Lance and Revolver competition.
