Military General Service 1793-1814, 1 clasp, Barrosa (A. W. Holscher, Asst. Surgn. 2nd Hussars K.G.L.) medal sometime mounted and since reconstituted with replacement suspension, scratching and edge bruising, therefore good fine but rare to this regiment £200-300

Achatz William Holscher was appointed assistant surgeon in the 2nd Hussars, King’s German Legion, on 19 April 1806. He served in the Expedition to the Baltic 1807; Expedition to the Scheldt 1809; in the Peninsula 1810-13; Netherlands 1814, and the campaign of 1815. He subsequently became Surgeon of the Hanoverian 11th Line Battalion and was awarded the King William’s Cross. The 2nd Hussars K.G.L. were granted battle honours for ‘Peninsula’ and ‘Barrosa’. Only two officers and 44 men lived to receive the M.G.S. medal, mostly with the single clasp for Barrosa.
