Historical Medals, City of Sheffield Education Committee, bronze award medals for 4 Years Punctual Attendance and Good Conduct (3), unsigned, named (Thos. Williams; Wm. A. Winterbottom; R. White), first with clasps for 1910, 1911 and 1912, last 35mm, others 47mm, and a silver award medal for 7 Years Punctual Attendance and Good Conduct, unsigned, named (Doris Sawtell), 35mm; S[heffield] P[risoners of] W[ar], a silver badge by Vaughton for the Sheffield Prisoners of War Help Committee, 30 x 25mm, hallmarked Birmingham 1918; Peace Celebrations, Sheffield, 1919, white metal medals (2), unsigned, both 32mm; King Edward VI School, Sheffield, a silver award medal by Vaughton, named (Cross Country Run, 1920, 8th, J.T. Burdekin), 27 x 22mm, hallmarked Birmingham 1919 [8]. Very fine and better; fourth and last in cases of issue £80-£100

The Sheffield Prisoners of War Committee hosted a reception in the Town Hall in February 1919 for some 300 repatriated Sheffield soldiers; the silver badges were presented to them by the Mayor and Mayoress, William Irons and Mrs Irons. Dr J.T. Burdekin, a prefect at the school, was later to become president of the Old Edwardians Association
