Bank of England, Frank May (era of), a strange proof or copy of a £5, 28 January 1879, without signature or serial number, crudely printed on greek watermarked paper, and stamped SPECIMEN in red, paper in three pieces taped back together, thus very good but paper quality better than the grade would dictate, and an odd item, the origins and purpose of which are somewhat mysterious
