Colonel George Herbert Stuart Browne was employed at the Ministry of Munitions. He was appointed Deputy Director-General, from Chief Inspector of Small Arms, on 14 April 1916, and was appointed a Companion of the Bath (C.B.) in 1917. Born in July 1866, he joined the Suffolk Regiment, from Sandhurst, in 1886 and served in the Hazara Expedition of 1888 (Medal with clasp). Colonel Browne was a J.P. for Oxfordshire and died on 27 December 1944.
