James Frederick Walker was born in Portsmouth on 31 March 1869 and entered naval service on 12 May 1887. Awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal on 8 February 1906, he served during the Great War in H.M.S. Iron Duke during the Great War, and was present in her during the Battle of Jutland, 31 May 1916, where she served as Admiral Jellicoe’s Flagship. He died on 25 March 1917 during an asthmatic attack and is buried in Portsmouth (Kingston) Cemetery.
John Walters joined the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class on 25 March 1895 and was advanced Leading Seaman on 30 October 1903. He was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal on 1 November 1910, and was promoted Petty Officer on 15 July 1915. He subsequently joined the Royal Fleet Reserve.
