Henry Edmond Steel was born in London and attested for the 8th (The King’s) Regiment of Foot on 11 August 1852. He served in India during the Great Sepoy Mutiny. The Muster Rolls show that he died at sea returning from India whilst onboard the Lady Clarendon on 19 April 1860.
