France, Le Comté Morand, 1844, a copper medal by J.B. Maire, uniformed bust turned right, wearing medals and sash, rev. legend in 16 lines giving battle honours, egypt, mourad-bey, etc, 54mm (BDM IV, 537). An exceptionally high relief portrait, good very fine (£40-60)

Charles Alexis Louis Anton, Comté Morand (1771-1835), lawyer, joined the French military in 1791 and had advanced to the rank of Major-General by 1808; he later became president of the general council of Doubs
