Cecil Hopkins was born in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, and attested for the Military Mounted Police at Bristol. He served with the 58th Division Military Mounted Police during the Great War on the Western Front from 27 March 1915, and was killed in action on 11 December 1917. He is buried in Dudhallow A.D.S. Cemetery, Ieper, Belgium.
