Early Anglo-Saxon Period, Sceatta, series A1, radiate bust right, tiic in front, broken a behind, rev. horned standard, totii, 1.29g/12h (Metcalf vol. I, p.90; cf. N 40; cf. S 775). Bust lightly scraped and with attempted piercing before it, otherwise nearly extremely fine and excessively rare, only the second recorded specimen (£400-500)

Found at Bishopstone, near Seaford, East Sussex, 2003.
Sold with a letter from Professor Michael Metcalf commenting on its rarity (see BNJ 1960-1, p.16) and referring to military encounters of the fourth quarter of the 7th century in the South East of England (for further details see BNJ 2001, p.39)
