Hammer Price:
£3,400

A late 18th-early 19th century enamelled gold hawking whistle, possibly Indian, of tapering cylindrical form, decorated all over in red, white, green and blue enamel in a foliate and floral design with scalloped borders, suspended from plain suspensory loop, unmarked, total length, including loop, 42mm. £2,000-£3,000

The enamelling is similar to Indian enamelled works from the Moghul period all of which are rare and these are regarded as gifts for a royal child. This whistle however is reported as originally being found in the UK and may be earlier in date.
